Drawing stamp "PRELIMARY DESIGN"

Hi,

I created a stamp a "PRELIMINARY DESIGN" and located it in paper space.

I also set a transparent value to this stamp (80%) but when I printed out, it didn't show a transparency. The stamp is dark.

Can some one explain to me?

Hi,

>> set a transparent value to this stamp (80%) but when I printed out

Is the object displayed transparent before printing (in modelspace or paperspace)?

Have you activated the checkbox "Plot transparency" in the plot-dialog?

Hi,

In addition to what > Alfred < wrote you can see and notice all objects have TRANSPARENCY value by pressing the button down at the bottom of your CAD screen ( see image)..

Hi Alfred,

Yes, the transparency is on, both in model and paper space.

I have tick "PLOT TRANSPARENCY" under plot options but the result is unchanged.

Thanks

Hi,

>> Sorry, I can't send to you.
Create a copy from your drawing, then delete all except a few objects showing the issue, run _PURGE to clean the drawing, make sure you can reproduce the issue again ... can you then upload that copy?

Otherwise we have to do a lot of guessing to get what you have. The most important things (why something might not be plotted transparent) were already suggested, if that does not help it might have to do with your drawing settings or the entity you used.

E.g.

  • Do you plot from modelspace or paperspace
  • What type of object is your stamp object
  • If it's a block, how is it defined (which layer(s) do(es) the block definition use and are they set to transparency "byblock" or "bylayer" or ...)
  • ...

Hi,

can you upload the Paulus _ colour.ctb please?

Look to the PDF, this seems to be ok or do you see any problems with transparency in it? If yes please describe where the problem is (e.g. mark it in a screenshot)

To compare your results it would be great to get a PDF from you so we can see the difference between my transparency display and yours.

Hi @rimutaka,

This might be caused by the PDF/Printer driver. Can you give me a bit more information on your process?

As a test, can you try using the AutoCAD PDF (General Documentation) driver to see if the issue is apparent?

Hi,

Thank you for all suggestions.

The steps I have done:

  1. Created a stamp in paper layout.
  2. Adjusted the transparency accordingly in layer properties
  3. Checked that icon "Transparency Display" is ON
  4. Print preview in PDF
  5. All above steps are OK
  6. When I printed out this drawing in PDF, a stamp is disappeared

Attached are the screenshots, where:

- Image 1 shows a screenshot in print preview

- Image 2 shows a screenshot after printing.

Hi,

>> I am using PDF Creator. How to use AutoCAD PDF??

Just set "DWG to PDF.pc3" as output device in the plot dialog.

Please find attached 2 PDF's I created using AutoCAD 2017 and PDFCreator as well as "DWG to PDF", both look ok for me.

I have no idea why your PDFCreator would loose just that one object, ideas to verify:

  • Let us know which AutoCAD version and servicepack you have installed ... update AutoCAD to the latest servicepack
  • Let us know which version of PDFCreator you have ... update PDFCreator
  • Try the same using a different profile in PDFCreator
  • Try the same using "DWG to PDF.pc3" in the plot dialog
  • Make sure (in the plot dialog) that you have checked the option "Plot paperspace last"

Hi Alfred,

Yes, It works when I printed it out in PDF.pc3 (see attachment)

I am using Civil 3D 2015, SP3 and PDF Creator 2.3 with latest updated.

Printing to the PDF Creator still has the same result.

Hi,

>> Printing to the PDF Creator still has the same result.

Well, as suggested, PDFCreator has multiple profiles, try a different one (or more).

After print from AutoCAD is finished the PDFCreator window appear with the question about title, profile, name, ... There you can choose the profile.

Do you mean "DWG to PDF.pc3"? If so, compare the size of the PDF and you'll see that this one creates smaller files (by default) with the same quality, so no need to use any third party product. Or is there any reason why you use PDFCreator?

Hi,

Please make sure that in your page setup when printing that you have "Print transparency" turned on.

Hi,

  1. Changed the profile in PDF Creator but result is unchanged.
  2. Uninstalled and reinstalled PDF Creator but result is unchanged.
  3. Printing with DWG to PDF.pc3 is OK and I will use it for the rest of my file.

Thanks for all suggestions.
