drawing not opening in autocad or trueview but opens on another computer

HI 

i have been give a drawing to open and change , but i can not open the drawing  in autocad or trueview , when my boss can open it in trueview . 

when i open the drawing it tells me .... the drawing file requires recovery , ... 

how do i open the drawing to change the format to see if that will work .. im using Autocad 2018

is there a way to solve this

I can open the drawings, without issues.

Please start command _ABOUT and show us a screenshot from that dialog, do the same on another system, where these files work well and show us this other screenshot too.

If you have any tool/app/plugin loaded to your AutoCAD, then please let us know which one(s).

the about option opens a window that scrolls forever, is there a specific part that is important to you ,

there are no plug in on this autocad  or non that i know of , how do we check

ok, you are working with AutoCAD Mechanical 2017 without any update (neither AutoCAD nor the Mechanical module is updated), please start with updating both.

What I'm missing now is the same ABOUT information from the system, where these files can be opened without issues, so we can find the differences.

Hi just checked on my boss's computer , he uses trueview which does not allow commands, the problem i face when updating is,the company bought autacad but as then since lost the login details so can i use my autodesk login info

Also in TrueView you have on the upper right corner a  menu with a question mark, if you open this menu you'll find an item "About" which shows the same screenshot.

Contact your reseller, he should be able to help you getting access.

As an alternative for now: When AutoCAD Mechanical was installed you have got 2 items in the Windows start menu to start AutoCAD:

1) as AutoCAD Mechanical

2) as AutoCAD with Vanilla profile

It might help to try both ways, one of them might open the file.

This shows that also 2017 is used, but already with an update (N.104)

You can test this by yourselves ... with TrueView 😉

Anyway, your 2 files saved as DWG 2010 format...

that seems to have worked  , if i open the zip folder it works and im able to see the drawing and work on it in read me format 

but then when i try and save it and open it , it has the same recovery error  , 

im assuming you did the DWG covert on trueview

No, I was using AutoCAD 2014 to open the files, then run command _WBLOCK with selection "Entire drawing" to save it back to DWG-2010 format.

Please try to use the other profile (Vanilla) and see if the same happens with this profile.

could you do the same with trueview  , convert the dwg ?

i have checked on my pc there is no vanilla  Cad on there ,we bought the factory suit that , has architectural and mechanical, i have tried on both and they are not working  , none of them open the drawing

No, I can't, I don't have TrueView 2017 installed.

But your boss has it, so you can do the conversion on his system.

When installing AutoCAD Mechanical you should have 2 profiles by default.

What does not work? Openig the file you created or opening my file (and save, close, reopen) using also AutoCAD Architecture?
