Docking the command line bar

Anonymous
Not applicable

I seem to be having a problem with my Command Line bar returning to "floating" everytime I exit Autocad, then restart it.

I will do a workspace save once I've docked it at the bottom of my screen, but it doesn't seem to hold after I exit, and returns to floating upon start up again.  I'm sure there must be a setting to keep it docked??

Thx!

Doug

I’m using an already saved workspace, where everything is fine except for the Command Line bar floating. I want to update an existing work space. It asked me if I wanted to overwrite it when I saved it. Is that not what I should be doing?

Thx.

Should work just fine, cause i did the same, overwrited the Original CAD workspace and i got no problem, ive migrated it from 2013 tho but still

i know that theres some option for it, found something that may help you, check this out, go tweek those option!

Solution:

1. Run the CUI command to open the Customize User Interface window.
2. On the left side, select your current workspace.
3. On the right side, expand Palettes and select "Command Line".
4. As shown in the screenshot below, change the Orientation setting to "Bottom". Hit [Apply] and [OK] to leave the CUI.

AUTOCAD 2013 SOLUTION

To get the command line back, type in CUI at the command line.  In the pane on the left side, click on your current workspace.  This will populate the pane on the right.  Expand Palettes, and click on Command Line.  This will populate the Properties pane just below.

Change the Orientation from Floating to your desired docked position (Above, Below, etc.).

Yes! This is what I wanted to do as well. I did notice that the command line still has the 'x', and the 12 small dots showing that this is what you 'grab' when you want to move the tool, or command bar. That option wasn't there back in the day, right? I will not ever want to move the command line with the control key. Is it possible these days to have just the command line with nothing else? Just wondering about this is all. Thank you ahead of time! 🙂

Hi,

Yes, press <CTRL><0>

If you even don't want a graphic area you can start ACCORECONSOLE.EXE instead ACAD.EXE
