Docked Palette Icon Images Small & Blurry

Since updating to SP1 of 2017, my palette images don't appear the same. They used to be a bit smaller and now they just look bad. Here are some before and afters....

 AfterSP1.jpg                        BeforeSP1.jpg

All other images seem fine, no changes in scale or appearance. Is anyone else seeing this?

Hi @Anonymous,

Have you also applied the update1.1? This can be found in your Autodesk Desktop App or in your Account Management page.  I would like to know if the appearance changes after that install.

Are the palette items custom ones? I can't tell from the image

The top three are third-party palettes, the bottom two are the default XREF and Properties palettes. All look bad.

Yes, I have the 1.1 update also. Seems odd that others have not noticed the blurriness. It happens both on the laptop screen and on my dual monitors via docking station, and also if I disable hardware graphics acceleration.

That is the confirmation I was looking for. The 1.1 update seems to have messed up what were already terrible looking palette icons.

I'm not sure why Autodesk decided that they would:

  1. Migrate all development towards image-based user interfaces
  2. Eliminate all color from the images
  3. Take it to the extreme....not only monochrome, but make all images shades of gray.

That's just a general gripe, as I'm seeing some color (blue-gray) slowly bleed back into what was the most bleak, unappealing and hard-to-distinguish visual interfaces ever conceived of in a software.

I do hope they fix the icons, though, as it is literally impossible to distinguish visually between many of them.

Hih @Anonymous,

Are you running nVidia graphics card(s)?

Go to Nvidia Control Panel then find the 3D adjustment and (look for the AutoCAD products) select integrated graphics then restart PC.

Let me know if that makes a difference in the icon appearance.

Hi @Todd_Rogers,

I apologize that the feature I mentioned does not appear to be in the more current releases of the nVidia control panel. I couldn't find it in mine either.  I see that other customers with similar experiences have simply updated the graphics driver to fix the problem. I will continue to look for other options.

I just updated mine a few months back. Let me look and see if there is a newer driver than the one I have. Stay tuned...

Hi @Todd_Rogers,

As I am not able to duplicate this on my side, is there one palette that seems to show this more than others?

It’s all my docked, hidden palettes (Properties, XREF, Tool Palette, etc.). You can see them in the image I attached in the above post.

Hi @Todd_Rogers,

I am going to log this as a defect for the team to look at. Can you tell me your OS, and Graphics Card Model?

I appreciate your help and patience on this issue.

Win 10 64-bit. NVIDIA Quadro K2100M. And like @Anonymous mentioned, it was fine before Service Pack 1.1.

Hi @Todd_Rogers

One last thing please.

Can you run an NFO for me and mail to me at [email protected]?

Here is an article on the process.

Hi, @john.vellek, just catching up from a few days off.

Since I have been using an Autodesk Certified (136.926) driver for my Quadro K2100M, I do have those settings. Unfortunately, I cannot add AutoCAD to the list of programs that can be set up in the NVidia Control Panel. I choose the 2017 acad.exe program, and it simply blinks and ignores it. Still, I don't plan to change drivers as this one is working very well for me when I plug into projectors to conduct training sessions, which I cannot say for many of the previous ones I've used.

I've also sent you my NFO, just in case it might help.

Hi @Anonymous,  Can you try a Reset Settings to Default?  So far, the team is not able to reproduce what you are seeing. I can't either.  You might also try a Repair and then create a new user account and log in with it to see if this persists.

Thanks for your patience.

I am having the exact same issue - docked icons are almost unreadable.  All other icons look fine.

HI @lionelens, I have been unable to duplicate this behavior.

Have the icons been scaled at all? What happens if you uninstall the Update 1.1? Do the icons return to normal?

Can you attach some screenshots of the affected icons? Please use the Snipping tool and capture areas that are small enough to display the issue.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.
