displaying a dimension in meters when rest of drawing is in millimeters

Hi i know there's got to be a stupidly easy solution for this. apologies in advance.

So we draw in mm, drawing units are in mm, however, for one part of the drawing (tower cranes) it makes sense to have the dimension in meters.

so we just override the dimension and put in the dimension in meters.

now i really don't like overriding dimensions, i believe that's where mistakes can be made if the dimension is altered and the override isn't updated.

i know the long way would be to make a field formula for the dimension, then round off the extra digits and put m on the end.

is there an easier way? or perhaps alt units?

Make another Dimension Style to use for those, and give it a linear scale factor of 1/1000, and a suffix of 'm'.  They happen to be right next to each other in the Primary Units tab in the Modify Dimension Style dialog box:
