Different views after opening DWG directly or after startup AutoCAD

Hello all,

I have a strange problem with AutoCAD 2023.0.1 starting up.
If I open a drawing that I have on my desktop directly, then nothing is wrong. My own workspace is loaded, the docked palettes are all in the right location etc. (left side image).
If I now first open AutoCAD and then open the same drawing or make a new drawing, my workspace is not loaded correctly and my half screen cannot be used because of the locations of the palettes at the top of my screen (right side of the image). If I close all these palettes (only possible through Tools), my image is normal again, but if I want to see a palette that I just turned off again, it is nowhere to be seen.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

FYI: AutoCAD 2023.1.2 is the latest update.

Hello (again) Pendean,

Although I found the problem, I also contacted my employer regarding the update. This is because there are no products available in my AutoDesk account, I have not purchased any products, or my organization has not assigned me product access. This while I do use AutoCAD 2023 and Revit 2022. Updating AutoCAD is not (yet) possible for me.

But regarding the view issue;
If I open AutoCAD directly, I don't want a new drawing to open automatically. I also don't want to see the start tab. Because of this, my startup variable was set to 2 and my startmode variable was set to 0.

If I now set the startup variable to 0, then there is nothing wrong with my view, but I do get a new drawing automatically at startup.

Previously (when using AutoCAD 2022) I did not have this problem with these variable settings. Perhaps it has also been resolved after the update and a new drawing does not automatically start when AutoCAD is started.

@sander.van.pelt Thank you for the dertailed post: we do not have you issue here in our offices in AutoCAD 2023, but we all use the Ribbon and do not populate or use Toolbars the way you do in your screenshot.

If 2022 worked for you, roll back to it. Some folks do that.

When opening the file its likely using the DWG launcher. 

You can try seeing if there are any file switches or other settings being initialized (or not initialized) when launching using dwg launcher and directly opening the program
