difference between "sweep" and "extrude along path"

hello,

I have been recenlt started using Sweep. I noticed that it is very much similar to Extrude along a path.

Is there a difference between Extrude along a path and Sweep? It there something that you can do with Sweep and you cant do it with Extrude?

That's right .. both commands can construct surfaces and 3D solids from 2D geometry . but you will notice differences in the command options .   >> EXTRUDE >>    >> SWEEP <<
