Hi, everyone!
I'm a newbie when it comes to Microstation, so there might be something I'm missing when I'm working on this, but I'm trying to create a DGN Mapping setup in AutoCAD to import .dgn files so the conversion between the files types can be a quick and easy process, or so I hope.
However, I've been running into some issues where if I select the .dgn file for importing, and go through the motion of setting it up - the color tab is the only one where there isn't anything in it. The layers, lineweight, and linetype tabs show the correct properties - it's only the color tab that doesn't show anything at all.
I've attached some images with the instances for a comparison, and the test .dgn file.
I created like a small test file to check with three different layers and colors, and imported the properties of the .dgn but still, nothing shows up in that tab. And when I select a .dgn to import, it says there are no colors defined in the mapping setup, which makes sense since there wasn't anything I could edit there to begin with.
And also, is there a way to import/ export the DGN Mapping Setup so others can also use the same setup as well?
Normally, I would just use the Save As function from Microstation to make it a .dwg, and make all of the layer changes, and other property changes manually in the AutoCAD files, but it can prove to be tedious at times. So, I've been trying to find a more faster approach, and happened to stumble upon DGN Mapping Setups, but given my lack of expertise in Microstation and with .dgn files, I don't know if what I'm doing is going to worthwhile in the end.
Thank you for taking the time out to respond, and I greatly appreciate each and every one of your answers!
Hello @Anonymous,
The import process for DGN objects and properties that have no direct correlation to DWG objects and properties may not translate completely. Please review & understand the limitations.
Maybe something is wrong with the setup. You can modify the standard mapping setup in the DGN Mapping Setups dialog box, select the mapping setup to modify. You cannot modify the Standard mapping setup.
