Detail View in layout doesn't work in AutoCAD

Detail View in layout doesn't work in AutoCAD

Everytime I try to make a detailed view on this one layout it doesn't work.  I get no error messages, the detailed view just doesn't show up.  I go through the process correctly, but when the area I want to be detailed has been selected, there is no preview (as shown in the attached).  So when I hit the ok button, everything disappears.  This works on a layout I have made before in the same document, but not this layout or any new ones I try to make.

Hi,

>> on this one layout

You have not uploaded your dwg-file so we can't see "this one layout".

When all works well in another layout, how many work is it to create one layout from scratch?

The file labeled workinglayout is the layout I can create a detailed view on, the file labeled wantedlayout is the layout I want the view on but does not show up.  It is the same part, taken from the same model, the wanted layout just shows a more complete picture of what I need to give maintenance to build.

Hi,

thank you for your screenshots!

Please understand that for looking into details I need the dwg-file. In the jpg-files I don't have access to the object properties.

One idea in the meantime: run command _REGEN3 before you try to get a detail, does that help?

I cannot send out files that can be altered as it is company policy.  The command did not work.

Can you delete everything but a very small part of the dwg and then post that? Make a copy of your file, delete everything but that small part that you are trying to detail that doesn't work, purge everything else. Then there really is nothing for anyone to alter. If someone stole that dwg it would save them a whole 5 minutes of work. Not sure how big of a company it is, but you could make the drawing much more limited like I suggested and then show that to your boss and ask if it was ok to send out as it really wouldn't be anything someone could do anything with.  It's just hard to trouble shoot a picture. It's like me taking a picture of my house from outside and emailing it to my plumber and asking what's wrong with my bathtub. :cara_sonriente_con_la_boca_abierta:

Hi @Anonymous,

Can you please describe how your drawing is constructed? Is the Viewbase view referencing an Inventor file or the model you built in modelspace?  Did you make the model in the same version of software that you are currently using?

Have you tried to run Audit on your file to check for corruption?  You might also try using BREP in addition to the REGEN3 on your model to correct any errors.

If you copy your model to a brand new drawing, can you then create the detail views on a layout?
