My blocks are showing up as black blocks in the Design Center. What do I do to clear this up?

Thanks,

Linda Lawson

Hi Linda,

When I place all the blocks into a single file (run BLOCKICON) and save them they show up properly in Design Center.  As another step, some users have found that making sure that background color is set to white helps the icons show up properly in Design Center.

Will this work for you? I usually keep all my standard blocks in select files to use as a library so I can group them and manage them easier.

I am not sure exactly what you do when you run BLOCKICON.

Hi @Anonymous,

BLOCKICON is the command generates preview images for blocks displayed in DesignCenter.

Simply type it in and select the wildcard (*)

then if you save the drawing you should be able to access it using Design Center with all of the block icons visible.

If you have a sample library file with your blocks in it I would be happy to take a look and maybe make a video for you.

This is some of my drawings that I am having trouble with. I resaved them with the white background. But I made a drawing called Test and inserted the above files into the test drawing. Then I typed the BLOCKICON command and hit enter. It said it redefined all blocks. Then I went back to Design Center and found the Test drawing and picked blocks. The 3WAVA01 THRU 3WVA07 are all coming out black icon when viewed in Design Center. The others are good. Why are the 3WAYVA01 THRU 3WVA07 still coming out black?

Hi Linda, Is it possible to attach the drawing(s)? I would be happy to take a look at the two offending blocks.

Check to make sure that your firewall is not preventing the file from being uploaded. You might also try putting it in a ZIP file before attaching.
