Delete blocks from AutoCAD

Hi there,
I am having this issue with file size and purging blocks... A colleague of mine gave me a drawing that I need to use for my plans, it has layers set up, some great blocks, text styles and so on. The problem is that I want to slim it down a bit and leave only what I would truly need in the current plans. I've ran Purge numerous times, but there are some blocks that won't delete, they are not even shown on the purge dialog box. My colleague couldn't help me too, it is not that big of a deal, however it would be great if there is a solution for that.
Thank you in advance!
Alex

Use WBLOCK command to create a new DWG file from only the content you want in modelspace: the resulting file will be as slimmed down as you will ever get. After that, you need to delete content.

Hi there,
The problem is that the blocks you are trying to find and delete are referenced in the drawing, that is why they are not shown in the purge menu. You can check out our post about deleting blocks here: Delete blocks from drawing in AutoCAD! There is a Lisp by Lee Mac that can delete blocks no matter if they are referenced or not, however, this can cause problems to the drawing so proceed with caution.

I am still unsuccessful at removing a Block that refuses to print. I have reviewed your posted "Delete blocks from drawing using purge". There are only 4 sheets to the project. I erased any Xrefernce file individually from each sheet and in Model Space. I have then purged.  If I type INSERT or BLOCK, I can see it is still listed among the available blocks.  And if I try to xrefence the revised block, I am told that the Block still exists.

I noticed where you discuss Annotation and how it might rotate the block. I see that the block is not annotative, but tried rotating the block 90 degrees with no solution.

Any other suggestions ?

Start with this to help you find why something cannot be Purged:
