DBLCLKEDIT turns itself off

AutoCAD 2021; I turn on DBLCLKEDIT then double click on a block attribute and it doesn't bring up the attribute editor. I go into DBLCLKEDIT again and find that it has turned itself off. Is this a bug or is there something I'm missing?

Usually this happened when you insert and use outsource plugins or lisps .
