-DataExtraction does not function as per DataExtraction

Hi,

I have created a DataExtraction .dxe file that is set to include dwg's within a folder with the setting "Automatically include new drawings added in this folder to the data extraction" ticked.

If use the .dxe file using the command "DataExtration" it works.

However If use the .dxe file using the command "-DataExtration" it doesn't include new drawings in the specified folder.

The reason I want to use "-DataExtration" is so the user doesn't have to go thought 8 pages to extract the data.

Is there a quick way to extract data that includes all .dwg files within a specified folder???

What program/version/toolset are you using?  I don't see the option to automatically add drawings in the current folder in the dataextraction wizard and wouldn't ever want to use it if it existed. For my work, that would be too hard to control.  There is a button to add drawings but it's manual, not automatic.

I am using AutoCAD 2023. See pic below for the option...

Thanks. I missed that.  So, are you doing the dataextraction for each project and then having your workers insert the resulting table?  Otherwise, I'm not sure how you could have a general dxe template for just any folder.

BTW, when I actually use the Automatically select documents from the folder, it only gives me a list that I can use to uncheck.  I don't think it actually means that it will add new drawings as they are created even though it says so, except if you use the dataextraction wizard to edit the extraction.

We are using Data extraction to generate a .xls file.

I want to put 1 or more .dwg files into a pre defined folder. Then run the data extraction, without the user having to alter the data extraction settings each time.

I wanted to use -DataExtraction instead of DataExtraction (note the "-" at the beginning) so the user doesn't have to cycle through each of the 8 pages which is slow on a large file.

Okay, I will test it in this version too!

-

I tested in ACAD2021,

it works.

My 2024 (with the same .dxe file):

Works too.

2024 Test with my 2021 .dxe:

1. Test failed (using the -dataextraction way)

2. Test, one time with Dataextraction dialog -> works

3. Test, now -dataextraction works also with my .dxe from 2021 in 2024

Not enough information for anyone here to replicate. Share a lot more step-by-step guidelines and share your sample DXE and BLK files hre for others to try and follow along.

It works! But for Acad-Tables as output only,

not for .XlS files.

Looks like a BUG to me.

This issue of DATAEXTRACTION not working with excel started when the update for Microsoft what made.

I have the same problem and Autodesk personnel could not help me after

. Could you please type _ABOUT in the AutoCAD command line and share a screenshot?

2. Could you please share with me your system specifications? (OS, Ram, Graphics card, etc)

3. Is this happening with all files? if not, please share the file and the external references to run some tests:

How to attach files:

4. Could you please type _3DCONFIG in the command line and share a screenshot?

5. What is your Microsoft Office version?

Could you please reset AutoCAD to default settings?

If necessary, please make a backup copy of your CUI:

Please do not restore your CUI before testing the stability of AutoCAD.

To share the files, please use Autodesk Drive or We-Transfer.

This problem may be related to Microsoft Edge, to fix the problem, perform the following steps:

1. Uninstall Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.

-Access the Control Panel and select "Programs" and then "Uninstall a program". Also, you can type "appwiz.cpl" in the Windows search bar.

- Search for "Webview" and locate the entry for "Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime". Select this entry and click "Uninstall".

2. Download and install the latest version of Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime from here ("Download" for the Evergreen Bootstrapper):

https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft...

4. Once the installation is complete, start AutoCAD Electrical 2023, and the program should open correctly.

It did not work.

Microsoft User Support forums are over here:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us

Autodesk looks for feedback on their software here (beyond support which you already tried)

Thanks for your reply to an old post.

I kept the file name consistent so I don't need AutoCAD to recognise new .dwg file that is added a a folder - It a work around
