Data file is missing

Hello.

After upgrading to AutoCAD 2018 I get .dwg file error: Data file is missing.

I tried to search from google but no answer.

Any  ideas how to recover dwg file would be great.

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I am sorry that your upgrade is having some issues. Is this plain AutoCAD or a vertical product? Did you migrate any settings for the upgrade?

When do you see this error message? Is it during the install, when opening files, when working in files?

Have you run AIDA to examine the install logs to see if a component failed to install properly?

Have you tried the actual RECOVER command?

Does the DWG file fail to open?

Do you have any idea what the "missing data file" might be?  (Does the drawing have a data link?)

Can you post a copy of the file?

this error means the file got corrupted somehow

What version of Autocad was this file created in?

if you go back to that version does it open?

if not do you have a back up of this file somewhere?

Recover command is one of the simplest way to retrieve your AutoCAD file, to recover your file using this command follow the below procedure: Open a new drawing and select File->Drawing Utilities and then “Recover”. Select the drawing from the dialog box and click OK.
