Customize "Source Block" Dropdown Menu

Customize "Source Block" Dropdown Menu

Hello :

We are trying to modify our custom leaders without having to create redundant styles. Right now, if you click on the leader and go to the "Properties" panel, there is a "Source Block" drop down list which has a handful of AutoCad default and the option to have a "User Defined" block.

Is there any way to remove all of the AutoCad default blocks in this list and replace them with our firm's standard three blocks? In other words, is there a background way to populate this list?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Gabby

HI @Anonymous,

I am not sure that you can pre-populate this list. I do suggest though that you could include the Mleader styles in a template file for starting new files as well as for Design Center "import" of the mleaders into a current drawing file.

hi gs:

I have an idea about your requirement. If you use ObjectARX to write a small plugin,  you can use a AcDbDatabaseReactor, to monitor whenever a leader entity added, then you can change the "Source Block" to your company's standard(can pop up a small dialog to choose which type), in spite of any default "source blocks". You don't even need to care about what the default source blocks are, because you don't need to go to "Properties" panel now.

If you don't know how to write an ARX plugin, we are honored to help you. Please do not hesitate to let us make this small tool for you, and it's totally free, :cara_con_una_leve_sonrisa:

Gabby - did you find a solution to this? because this would be very nice to have. my workaround currently is to have all of my "user defined" blocks in the drawing. i then create a mleaderstyle with with the proper "look" and one of my "user blocks" as a placeholder. to switch to a different block - i select the mleader, then in the properties dialog box change the block from "user block" to one of the "built-in" (i.e. "detail callout"), then switch back to "user block" which pops up a dialog box that allow me to select the "user block" that i want. its a pain. i hate extra steps like this. it would be MUCH better to be able to select the "source block" directly from the dropdown.

This is exactly what we have ended up doing for leaders and dimension styles. It would be great if there was a way to populate the list with “user defined” blocks, huge time saver!
