Custom keyboard shortcuts

I'm finding problems when customizing my keybord shortcuts in Acad 2015.

Former user of autocad 2005, I used to configure them with a combination of ctrl (right) + Up/down/left/right arrows and 0-1-4 numpad keys.

In 2015 this is no longer possible (as far as I have tryed...). The combination with the arrows just pan the cursor, while the numpad seems not to be useful. Nevertheless, the regular number keys works fine.

Any ideas? I'll really appreciate your help!!

Explain your process in more detail, where/how etc. and what are these combos supposed to do for you.

For the most part CTRL functions are reserved for Windows OS.

Hi pendean!

The shortcuts are for: copy objects, offset, distance, multiple object stretch... normal autocad commands, working fine in 2005.

Thanks!

I tried CTRL+Left arrow key for copy and it still works ( for 2008 )

for 2015 I doubt if it changes any.

The configuration menu also allows me to do it, but it doesn't work later.

When config, try CAPS LOCK, I know it affects the Shift key but not sure about CTRL key.

Here is the screenshot (spanish version).

I've tryed to configure it in 2013 and 2014 as well, in different computers (win xp, 7, x86, x64), and never got it.

Mmmm... when caps lock on, the key combination turns into

CTRL+SHIFT+FLECHA ARRIBA

(CTRL+SHIFT+UP ARROW)

Back in the drawing, the result is the same: cursor pan

Trying to write the combination in lower case, it automatically changes to upper case in the end.

Maybe it's not autocad but shortcut key for monitor or windows has taken over.

Mmmm... I'll check this link.

Anyway, it's working fine in the same PC in autocad 2005 at the same time.

On the same monitor? it's worth checking monitor shortcuts.

Yes, on the same monitor.

No monitor shortcuts set, anyway.

BTW, i've tried the reg-change files of the link, just in case, and they don't change the behavior of my PC, even after rebooting... Running win 7, so they should work.

Forget 2005: it died a long time ago as far as Autodesk is cconcerned.
Plus you missed a lot of changes since the year 2004 (it's 2015 BTW). Also, move away from CTRL as an option, its easier to use something else like SHIFT+something.

CTRL+arrow keys in R2012 and higher are part of the NUDGE ability, built into the program. You cannot override them http://autocadinsider.autodesk.com/my_weblog/2011/05/nudge-in-autocad-2012.html

CUI command>Keyboard shortcust section>Shortcut Keys, try simply replacing some of the predefined CTRL if you must stick with that one. Otherwise stay away from CTRL.

Q: C (or CO) for Copy not good enough? same for the other commands? or are you ntrying to use the arrows as part of the command, like arrow down to move a unit, arrow up to offset a unit etc.?

Thanks, pendean. I suppose It explains the issue... regretfully! I suppose Nudge is something I cannot do anything about.

In fact, I've been giving a try to all new versinos since 2005. And always got the same conclussion: new icons, new command names (in spanish), graphic changes... but very little improvements. Not to justify the ram consumption neither the money! Of course, it's my opinion... And don't forget I'm using Autocad, so there should be some reasons why...

The point in using the arrow/numpad keys is simple: you get your left hand off the keyboard searching a pencil, esc key or your cup of coffee... and you never have to look to push the correct key again when back! It's impossible make a mistake there. I found it quicker. Probably being an 'arrow gamer' instead of a 'wasd one' has something to do...

So, due I have to move to 2015, maybe I'll have to upgrade myself! And if everybody uses another key shortcuts, I rely on myself to get it! 😉

Thanks sincerelly for your help, pendean and patchy!!
