Hello all,
Many years ago I modified and compiled the simplex.shp file to include several custom symbols such as the degree symbol was assigned to ^ and the delta symbol was assigned to the { (left brace) and the centerline symbol was assigned to the } (right brace).
Through all the program updates up to ACAD 2017, these symbols appeared correctly. Now, in 2018, these symbols have reverted back to the ^, {, and }.
I've tried re-compiling the shape file and placing the resulting SHX file in the current /FONT directory but the results are the same.
Has something changed in the way ACAD reads these SHX files that is causing this? Can anyone suggest a solution or workaround?
Thanks in advance.
Cordially,
Art.

Hi @tutti,
I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!
I am not aware of any changes in the way AutoCAD 2018 handles SHX files. Is it possible to attach your custom font to a post so I can see if it behaves on my side?

Hi Art,
I am afraid the attachments didn't stick to the post. Can you try to ZIP them up and reattach?
I am wondering if naming the font differently might have any impact on this issue. For instance, if you change your FONTALT to a noticeably different font is that what you see in your drawing?
It sounds like it is not finding the correct font and substituting for it.

Thanks John, the FONTALT variable was the problem. When I set it to my custom font, everything worked perfectly.
Your the best.
Regards,
Art.
