Cursor Lags

Hi everyone,

I am using AutoCAD 2022 and I have this annoying problem, my cursor, when it is in the model space, it starts lagging. It happens only when I am in the model space. I checked online and someone said "turn off Hardware Acceleration", it worked but I needed to use the point cloud, so it is not a good choice for me.  I deactivate some feature suggested in this forum, it didn't work. I updated my graphic card and nothing.

there is a way to use the point cloud without the mouse lag? I almost try everything I read on this forum, but nothing works. Until yesterday I used 2021 and I never had this problem.

Thank You

Stefano

Hi,

>> I can confirm this issue on AutoCAD 2022.1

You may confirm that you are seeing this in AutoCAD 2022.1, but not in AutoCAD 2021.

You can not confirm that this is an issue of AutoCAD.

As most people have success using the GFXDX12 switch to set AutoCAD back to DirectX11 the source of the issue could also be the DirectX12 driver of your graphic card. Currently we don't know if it's AutoCAD or there exist DirectX12 issues.

Have you tried the switch? (and restarted your workstation then before testing)?

I used DDU (Display Driver Unistaller) and reinstalled the driver. The cursor lags in DirectX12. When I switch to DirectX11 it is smooth. The graphic card is NVIDIA Quadro P620 and my driver is 471.68 (Release date 2021.8.10 )

Hi,

>> When I switch to DirectX11 it is smooth

Good to know you got it solved!

>> my driver is 471.68 (Release date 2021.8.10 )

Just one word to "current driver" ... I'm a fan of not using the most current driver, as there does not exist too many users already having experience with that driver. And the situation nowadays is very different to 20 years ago ... when a new driver might bring 20% or 50% performance raise. Today a new driver may be 0.5% faster than the previous one, and even that in just one or two software packages and not in every program.

So my goal is to find not the most current driver, but the driver that works best... and I keep this one as long as possible (also disabling it's auto-update option).

Just my 2c, - alfred -

I cannot seem to solve my cursor lag for Autocad 2022. I work on a Mac. When I tried to type in the GX12DX1  (I’m not near the comment now so not sure I remembered this command correctly, but I plugged in what was recommended) nothing appeared in the command line. It did not register it as a command. Very frustrating.

Cursor is lagging and doesn't quite keep up with anticipated location of mouse:

Command Line: CURSORTYPE

Change from: 0 to 1

I'm experiencing a similar issue using Autocad LT 2023.

The lag doesn't happen hovering over menu bars, but once I hover over the Model and Paper space it slows down and lags for me. I've tried 3D Config and turning the Hardware Acceleration to OFF, but the issue persists.

If I do a figure 8 with the cursor you can feel the cursor droop or drag. It's so weird as it will be fine for a moment until I actually click on the paperspace.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have had this same type of "laggy" issue - the cursor seems normal over menus but lags in the drawing canvas. I changed the variable "CURSORTYPE" to 1. It changes your crosshairs to look like your normal mouse pointer. It still has all the Dynamic Input features and works just like the normal crosshairs. You just don't have the "crosshair" look. However, it does seem to remove a lot of the lag at the cursor.  Using this in Civil 3D - 2022, 2023 and 2024 - without issue. I hope that helps!
