Creating an XLINE from Polyline Endpoint Problem

Hi all. First off thanks for taking the time to read this; all help is much appreciated.

So my problem is with the XLINE command in AutoCAD LT 2017. When I go to create an XLINE and use a polyline endpoint as my first point I get these weird green dashed lines across my screen. See the picture.  Now, I can successfully create the XLINE if I use polar tracking to pick a point along the line I want and then use a polyline endpoint as my second point.

This is a very weird issue that I haven't experienced before in any version of AutoCAD and was hoping someone had a fix for it!

Thanks so much for your help with this!autocad XLINE prob.png

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous!

>> I get these weird green dashed lines

I guess you mean the object tracking (which I see as a big feature, and never as weird, to be honest I could not work without 😉 ).

You can turn object tracking using <F11> or in the dialog for object snaps as shown here:

Hi,

I certainly agree that Object Tracking is an amazing feature, but if you look closely at the picture I don't have object tracking enabled... I thought that was the issue as well but toggled it off to see if that was in fact the case.

Any other ideas?!

Hi,

sorry, in that case it's Polar-Tracking or <F10>

Hi,

Sorry unfortunately that doesn't fix the issue.

Hi,

well, can you please show a screencast from what you are exactly doing while all tracking-options are turned off?

If not already installed you can download and install (and use) Autodesk Screencast for free >>>click<<<.

Maybe we see what's happening when we see what you are exactly doing with commands and settings.

Hi,

if I look to your video I can see that as long as <F10> and <F11> are off, there are no green lines, ... do you see any while you are working? In that case try the same again with hardware acceleration OFF (command _GRAPHICSCONFIG).
