Create irregular model space viewporte

I had thought I had done this in the past. Maybe I don't remember right or maybe I don't remember how it's done.

I want to end up with 2 viewports. One large irregular one ( L shaped ) and one small one in the upper left.

I had thought that I could create 3 viewports and then join the one on the right with the lower one on the left. I get an error that the viewport would be non-rectangular. I remember that being the case in the past. But thought it had changed at one point.

I can do what I want with 2 viewports. But I'd like to know if I've forgotten something.

Try MVIEW then create the shape using the Polyonal option.

Modelspace does not allow for irregular viewports in AutoCAD, never has: that's a paperspace feature only.

Thanks Dean. I thought that was the case. But I wanted to check.
