Create a Channel in the Block

Hi,

I'm trying to create a channel inside of the solid block. The channel was originally constructed by 3d faces from an external dxf files. What I tried to do is to

1. convert them into surfaces

2. place three disc surfaces at three openings to enclose the channel

3. use "sculpt" to generate solid channel.

4. subtract the solid channel from the solid block.

However, at the step 2, I encountered the issue "solid creation failed, no watertight volume is detected". I guess there might be gaps between the 3d faces in the original files, but I have no idea how I can find and fix them. I'm new to the AutoCAD 3d modelling, so if anyone has  any suggestions that will be much appreciated!

I would recommend modeling the mesh of the channel.

1. determine the section of the existing channel and trace out the shape.

2. trace along an edge of each run using a spline or 3d polyline.

3. check your new solids against the existing for fit..

3. use sweep and union to finish off the solid.

4. subtract.

Thank you! Just followed the steps to build the solid model I need. This works great!
