Copy-paste problem

Good afternoon.

When I paste from the clipboard, a new block is automatically created.

How can I turn this off?

Thanks.

Are you using CTRL+V or CTRL+SHIFT+V?

CTRL+SHIFT+V runs 'PASTEBLOCK' command (will create a block with a random A$sdpfngapmgv or similar name)

CTRL+V should run 'PASTECLIP' command.

You can also use the right-click menu:clipboard menu.JPG

Yes I use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V without SHIFT.

Similarly, I use PASTECLIP in right-click menu.

A block with a random name is created.

@Anonymous

Try to purge your *TEMP* Folder (and Users\Appdata\local\temp)

or just restart Acad

or just restart PC

If nothing helped: Enough space on your local drive?

There was another solution too in the past, but i can't remember in this moment. hmm

This thread mentions the same issue - perhaps you could try emptying your "Temp" folder (in windows explorer,  type %temp% and it will bring you to the location) and see if that fixes?

This other thread has a few other suggestions.

Is it only in one file that you have the problem, or in all files?

Normal AutoCad 2018 is used. Clearing the TEMP folder with a reboot didn't help. Only one file is the problem. A file larger than 1 GB without external references. The file was created by a software-related organization. Save to DXF is not possible. Maybe there is some system command changing this parameter?

I can't find any reference to a system command changing this behaviour. If it's only in one file I suggest the following (one at a time, see if it corrects itself after each step):

  • Purge
  • Audit
  • Recover the drawing
  • WBLOCK the contents to a fresh drawing (note: you will lose any custom UCS you may have, and you can only WBLOCK model space so you will have to re-import any layouts to the new drawing using ADCENTER)

Any improvements?

If the drawing is not confidential, you can attach it to your message so we can test on our machines

"AutoCad 2018 is used"  and "Only one file is the problem. A file larger than 1 GB"

Is it a typo or just 'holy ****' Smiley LOL  Sorry 1GB?

I'm not surprised if it leads to problems.
Without the file to have the help but hard.
You already said that it's just this file, so try these tips.

I would also try for a backup)
_-PURGE _reg * no
_-PURGE _all * no
_SaveAs (use the native fileformat of your product)

Can you Upload and share the file somewhere?
