I try to copy from 1 dwg and paste into a new dwg and nothing shows up.

what am i doing wrong.

the reason we do this is we nest from autocad to our burn table and we nest on a new drawing from other dwgs

It's difficult to see what you're trying or how you're trying to do it. Not everyone has the Quick access Toolbar set up the same way. One thing I can think of is that the layer may be off in the new drawing.

If you're creating a new drawing anyway. Why not try WBlocking the entities and creating a new drawing as part of the process.

A good way to show what you're doing might be to create a Screencast.

@Anonymous ,

Welcome to the AutoCAD Forum.

Try to COPYBASE or Ctrl+Shift+C.  Select 0,0 and on the new drawing Paste or Ctrl+V to 0,0.

Are you by any chance trying to copy on locked Layers?  It won't let you do that.

I figured out solution these dwg's were created in Inventor and saved as dwg's.

they need to be exported to dwg's.
