Copy and paste issue - update 2019.1.2

Hi Forum,

Does anyone have copy paste issues after updating to latest version?

We're currently having massive issues where copying and pasting scales everything down by 1000.

never happened before the update

Any thoughts before I roll back a version?

(dwgunits = 6, units = unitless, insunits =0 , insunitssource = 0, insunitstarget = 0  always was, never changed)

Hi,

wow, you are correct, <CTRL>C and <CTRL>V in the same drawing scales an object by 1/1000.

May values are all set to 6 (Meter), INSUNITS (-DWGUNITS too), INSUNITSDEFSOURCE, INSUNITSDEFTARGET.

Seems to be a bug and should be reported by creating a support ticket (https://manage.autodesk.com).

Hi,

additional info ... seems to happen only when UNITS (INSUNITS) is set to 6.

When starting with template ACADISO.DWG (which is set to INSUNITS = 4/Millimeters) then the problem does not exist.

@Alfred.NESWADBA

Das DU ungewöhnliches Verhalten entdeckst macht mich ja nervös zu antworten (wo ich aktuell noch kein Problem sehe- lol)

Please send me one sample file, or your exact worksteps, thx.

@gros33

For this discussion, please upload you sample drawing!

CTRL+C/CTRL+V  is only dependent of the AEC-Settings, and these settings are stored in your file,

the only access in plain autocad is -dwgunits (which you should never start in a drawing "if possible").

I can not reproduce it now

Hi,

please find attached the drawing + this video to see the steps to reproduce this issue.

This maybe important as I have not shown the exact version info in the video:

hmm

I have not had time to think about it, but I wanted to say: This does not happen to me!
Not in ACD, not in LT, not in C3D (all based on 2019.1.2)
Win8.1

Even though insunitsdefsource & insunitsdeftarget do not play any role here,
For the test, I set the variables according to your video with it
no unnecessary questions arise.

Auch wenn insunitsdefsource & insunitsdeftarget hier keine Rolle spielen (sollten),
für den Test habe ich die Variablen entsprechend deinem Video eingestellt damit
keine unnötigen Fragen entstehen.

Hi,

So Windows 8.1 on your system is the only difference to Windows 10 on my laptop?

Strange ...

Thanks Alfred,

Glad to know its not from our end but Autodesk's.

To add more info, when copy pasting a block, the insertion point changes...

This a major issue for us.

How do we report this? Is this thread being read by whoever needs to know about it?

Thanks again

@gros33

same to you, please upload a sample file and a screencast would be very helpful.

And what you say about the block-basepoint: Thats impossible.

Please upload file1.dwg with only one blockreference, file2.dwg after CTRL+C/CTRL+V (with two blockreferences) thx.

Just by corrupt dynamic blockreferences it seems possible (for me).

Hi,

>> Glad to know its not from our end but Autodesk's.

Looking to @cadffm's post we are not finished with really isolating the source of the issue.

Can you confirm that you are on Windows 10?

>> when copy pasting a block, the insertion point changes...

Can you please describe what you mean with "insertion point changes"? Can you describe what to do to get that recreated and what to look for after pasting? Did geometry move or did the block-definition change it's base point or what exactly happens?

>> How do we report this?

You go to the support section of your subscription center (https://manage.autodesk.com) and create a support ticket.

This makes sure Autodesk reads that. You might show them a link to this forum thread so they can also see our steps what we tried and what we found out.

Thanks again Alfred,

Regarding the blocks, copying a block with base point and pasting it creates the same block 1000 times smaller and the insertion point at 0,0

I'll continue tomorrow, as I'm in Australia so that's a wrap for me..

Cheers

A sample drawing would be great, so we wait until you have got enough sleep 😉

I'm in Austria, so just 2 letters difference in length, can't be that hard, can it? 🙂

Please Check the block-name after pasting, it should be another one and your copied blockreference is nested inside.

Hi @Alfred.NESWADBA and @CADffm

Yes I'm running windows 10

Correction, the insertion point of the block doesn't change, however, it is copied from 0,0 even if copy with base point is used.

Please refer to the screencasts and attached drawing

Thanks for your assistance,

David

All blocks are in the right location but 0.001 scale, and all other objects are scaled down from 0,0

Thanks again @Alfred.NESWADBA and @cadffm,

The problem has been (temporarily) solved, here's my response to Emily from Autodesk's support:

Hi Emily,

The problem has been solved (or some workaround).

In -dwgunits, “scale objects from other drawings upon insert?” No seems to fix it.

Still, it should behave like that at all, and it serenely didn’t prior to the update.

On this note, It is very frustrating when Autodesk releases updates that creates problems, and when trying to troubleshoot them, being asked to uninstall plug-ins and tinker with our system set up. As if Autodesk hasn’t created enough of a mess.

As clients, I believe we’re entitled to better service for these products than this, especially when we’re paying top dollar that keeps going up and up…

Something to think about

Regards,

David Gros

Like Alfred wrote, you are wrong and we didn't found the problem!

Sure, "without scaling option" you get what you want, lol.

But this solve not the (unknown) problem.

When you use the clipboard (the only time to do this should be to copy&paste things from one to another file),

then Autocad create a dwg(like command WBlock, Option object selection)

and re-insert this file as exploded  block.

You or Alfred can check the dwgunits setting in this temporary file (user-local-temp-folder).

All settings should equal to the source file.

Again: This is not happens on my installation and we need the result of more users/installations to find the problem.

@john.vellek could knowing about this issue, let us ask <done now>
