Copied block attribute text printing lighter in other drawings

Hello,

I can't figure out why my text is printing differently in drawings that it has been copied to. See attached.

Hi @Anonymous,

This is pretty strange behavior. Can you eTransmit the file and add it to a post? I would like to take a look at this for you to see if we can't get this resolved quickly.

Hello @Anonymous

Check that in the file where you are copying your block you have the same style of text with the same name and with a different font or characteristics.

If this happens, you will either replace the text font or change the attribute property.

For example, in the original file you have a font called TEXT with an Arial font, and in the file where you copy the block you have a font called TEXT but with a Romans font. When you copy your AutoCAD block you will replace the font. To correct this change the font or modified property of the file of the file where they are copying.

I hope I help you,

Hi @Anonymous,

It looks like you are missing some fonts that are being used by some of the text styles.  Can you please open your PW block and verify all the text styles are valid and have all the proper fonts? It appears that you have some DGN fonts and a Standard font that are missing.

I changed all of the text in the PW block to text style "romans" and got the same result when I plotted.

I noticed that one of the files is using text style "ROMANS.shx" while the other is using text style "romans.shx". How do I make them the same? See attached images for reference - notice that the Font Style drop down is disabled in one file and not the other.

Best,

Tiffany

HI @Anonymous,

The style name being all Caps shouldn't matter.  Here is the block with the attributes. I cleaned up the styles there to use romans.  I would try dropping this into a new file to see if it works properly for you as it does on my side. If that works then make sure the styles in your existing drawings match those of the block.

@john.vellek

I inserted your PW.dwg into a new file but the text still had the same styles as my original documents.

I changed the text in my original two files to romans and one still prints lighter. Notice the thicker text in model space (which prints lighter) - see attached.

Best,

Tiffany

Hi Tiffany,

Just to make sure, it is not the style name but the font that is assigned in the style that is important.  Just in case i gave you the incorrect PW block I have attached the corrected one here on this post as well. Please insert this into a new drawing and see if it works.

Ok, after tinkering around a bit I found a solution.

In the file that was printing lighter I changed the romans text style name to something else - let's say R1 - and then inserted the ROMANS.shx (from the file that was printing correctly) through Design Center. I changed all the text that was R1 to the new ROMANS text style then ran ATTSYNC to the block. The files are plotting correctly now!

Thanks for all your help!

Best,

Tiffany
