Hi,

i know how to import a PDF into AutoCAD 2020 but I'm having a problem with a particular PDF. when i select it and import it it comes up and says no objects were imported.

i can import it as a raster image but then i cant edit the drawing.

i am self taught in AutoCAD so anything out of the ordinary i struggle:(

i have attached the PDF any help would be fantastic.

Hi and Welcome to AutoCAD Forum,

>> when i select it and import it it comes up and says no objects were imported.

because your pdf file ( Castle Hill ) is NOT a single pdf file , i mean that you have a multi sheet in your pdf file ( 11 sheet ) . for that PDFOMPORT will not bring any file to your screen BUT PDFATTACHE will do .

Hi,

The pdf doesn't contain any vector data, so it won't be converted. it's just a scanned copy. You need to import into the AutoCAD as a raster image then trace/draw over the image.

Your PDF contains nothing AutoCAD can import: in case you do not know, there are two types of PDFs, Vector (from CAD programs) and Raster (scans, aka pictures, like your PDF).

How can you tell the difference? In your PDF< zoom real close to any words, see the fuzziness and inexplicable dots floating all around the letters? It's a scan, aka just a pretty picture, AutoCAD alone will not convert a picture.

There are pricey 3rd party vendor PDF converters out there if you have the $$ and inclination to learn how to use for that, probably a lot faster than tracing over them in AutoCAD.

It's a scan of an original drawing so it will not work.
