Converting Drawings Created in AutoCAD P&ID & Plant to Plain AutoCAD

We have received mechanical schematic drawings from a contractor that were created using AutoCAD Civil, P&ID and Plant. When we open these files, we are getting a proxy message that shows all the proxies and which suites of AutoCAD were used. We have attempted using the EXPORTTOAUTOCAD command. For some drawings, the proxy message still appears. However, with less proxies and the message now all shows AutoCAD P&ID and Plant. The proxies from AutoCAD Civil look like they converted to plain AutoCAD. The objects created using P&ID and Plant can't be edited and layers changed in plain AutoCAD. Another issue we are coming across is when running the EXPORTTOAUTOCAD command, some features are not appearing in the new file this command creates.

Another approach we took was to select all objects and explode. However, this presents an issue when attributes are used. Any hidden attributes will then appear. I also looked into object enablers. However, there currently isn’t one for AutoCAD P&ID.

Does anyone happen to know what the best approach is to convert these drawings to plain AutoCAD?

That's how plain AutoCAD works. Your files creator(s) will need to "export to autocad" and send you all new DWG files for your plain AutoCAD software.
OR
1) You are a current subscriber and therefore can freely install and use P&ID / Plant for free to get beyond the issues you listed (and in the interim install and run C3D as a free trial for 30-days to get passed this one single task).

2) you are not a subscriber but you can still download and install as free 30-day trials the variants of AutoCAD you need to do the tasks you need.

How would you like to proceed?

Thank you for your reply. This is the same conclusion I have reached regarding these drawing. I think the best approach will be to have the files creator convert these drawings to new DWGs in plain AutoCAD format. I have reached out to the files creator to use AutoCAD P&ID/Plant to convert these to plain AutoCAD. Do you mind providing instructions on how they can convert these files from AutoCAD P&ID/Plant to plain AutoCAD? I would like to relay the steps you provide to them.
