Converting COSMOS to AutoCAD 2017

Hello All,

So I have about 100 drawings that were created in COSMOS and have been converted to AutoCAD 2017. So in AutoCAD, the drawings come in with no properties on the layers. I've been tasked with updating these to the clients' standards (layers), but every item in the drawings are individual blocks. I'd like to know if there is a simpler way to do this. What I have been doing; is to open the drawing, review the layers which come in numbered, rename the layer and change the properties as needed. But I still have to open each block on that layer and apply the layer properties in the block editor.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Hi @Anonymous,

I suggest exploring LAYTRANS.  If the process is repetitive that might save you lots of work. You need to set it up once to create the standard translation but then you can apply it to all the other drawings.

Next, explore SETBYLAYER.  This should assign BYLAYER properties to the geometry.

Thanks, John this definitely helps streamline the process, the LAYTRANS is great. The SETBYLAYER still does not add the layer properties to the blocks, I have to still manually edit them, but every little bit helps. Thanks so much for your advice.

Kind regards,
