I have AutoCAD 2018, I'm trying to convert text to MTEXT from a PDF import to vector.
When I go to "Recognize SHX Text" (under the insert tab), it will not identify the Arial text since it's in the TTF format.
Is there any way I can get AutoCAD to recognize the Arial TTF text so it will convert it into MTEXT?
Thank you!

Hi,
>> it will not identify the Arial text
When you imported the PDF can you then select this Arial written text as text or are that images?

The font in the PDF is Arial and I'm trying to convert it, but it won't recognize the Arial font.
It will recognize simplex.shx font, but not the Arial font that is in the PDF.
The "Recognize SHX Text" will not identify the Arial text.

Does it look like Arial or can you use search functions in your PDF-Viewer to really find this text? Just to know if the PDF has the text embedded as text/font or as pixels.
Can you please upload the PDF as well as the DWG-file where you imported the PDF?

... because Arial is not an .SHX font. .TTF-font characters are drawn as "areas," but .SHX-font characters are drawn as "linework." They're just completely different animals, like the difference between cutting the shape of a letter out of a piece of paper and making the shape of a letter by bending a wire. If there was a "Recognize TTF Text" option, then maybe....

I have only 1 sample dwg, so I was able to confirm that the text was indeed "Arial" Font, but I have hundreds of PDFs that I need to convert into CAD. I uploaded a sample PDF that has text copied from the original CAD file with a PDF of it as well.
I understand that Arial TTF won't be recognized as an SHX font style when bringing in a PDF, but I wasn't sure if there is a work around or if someone has created an SHX font style that will recognize Arial TTF.
Thank you!

There are no embedded fonts in your PDF: nothing there to convert except the shapes. Might be a setting in your BLUEBEAM software, or use the built in DWG TO PDF driver and set it to capture fonts.
