How can I convert my AutoCAD 3D Models from DWG format to OBJ format?

I don't find it in the export options.

There was, at one time, an OBJ exporter in the Exchange App Store.  IIRC, I had to try out a couple of different ones before I landed on one that worked for what I needed.

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

Not directly possible, what software are you using to export your data to? Maybe you'll find other formats (like FBX, IGES, SAT, STL) which can be exported directly from AutoCAD.

The way you can go is to install the (free) FBX Converter (>>>click<<<), export your drawing as FBX and use the FBX Converter to convert it to OBJ.

You might be able to do this by uploading your file to your myhub.autodesk360.com and then exporting in desired format.

Can you attach an example *.dwg file here for testing?

Hi,

Don't you need a license of Fusion 360 to do that?

Plus (for me important) in that case the data is transferred to the cloud just for conversion, so double check if there might be security risks before going that way.

Well, I just ran a experiment and not sure that is going to work anyhow.

I have to get some other work done before I can experiment more.

As far as security - virtually all of my financials are done electronically.

I found a solution. The company I work for has access to 3D Studio Max which, if you know where to look and which buttons to push, allows you to import DWG files and export to OBJ. Wasn't easy to figure out.
Thank you all for your suggestions.
