Converted *.dwg from *.vsd cannot attach image

Hi. I have a drawing from MS Visio that I converted to *.dwg. It has a layer with attached jpeg image. However, when I opened the dwg file, the attached image doesn't show but I know it's there because its outline shows and I also tried to delete the layer just to check and it says I can't because there is an object there. Also, I tried attaching another image to another layer but the same thing happens. I think it's maybe like the HATCH where Visio turns off FILLMODE when it converts to dwg, but this time I don't know which variable I should edit. Or maybe it's another thing altogether haha. Anyways, how do I get the image attachments to show? Thank you 😊

Hi @Anonymous,

I don't see your attachment but I am happy to look at your drawing file if you can attach it. Since typically an image would show up as an attachment, I am surprised that it would ever come in as embedded.  Please send me the image too if you can and I can take a look at this for you.

The layer called SCAN is the one with the image. Thanks!

Hi @izzacdeguzman,

The outline you are seeing is just that, an outline (polyline) of where another program put the image. It is not the actual image. If you had used an AutoCAD based program there would be no issue, but other programs don't save these things the same way, so the actual image is not attached. What you need to do is XREF the image into your drawing and use ALIGN to place it properly. I've reattached the file with the image attached correctly. Just put it in the SAME FOLDER as the image and it should open properly. I've also attached a screencast of how I did this.
