Convert Autocad dwg to step

I have to convert a 2D drawing to a step file for a 5 axis water jet cutter, and I have no clue where to start.  Can anyone help with this.

I am to convert it to step and thay change it to an org file apparently.  I found the export to iges, and would like to know if thats the same as as step file

Do you have access to Autodesk Inventor?

If you use AutoCAD Mechanical, the "stepout" is the command.

 

Otherwise, try command "export",  then choose "stl" or "igs" in files of type.

Note: This only helps if a stl or igs file can be accepted in your case.
