Using Autocad 2017-In a simplified example, I have two different files:
A-Base Plan with different layer states set up
B-Second sheet file that xrefs the base plan
File A has different layer states set up to control layer visibility and some of those states requires some of the layers to have a different color. In a test example I have 3 layers-Walls, equipment, and lighting.
Layer state 1 (Equip)-Walls (Color 8), Equip (Color 2), Lighting (Color 4-FROZEN)
Layer state 2 (RCP) -Walls (Color 8), Equip (Color 9), Lighting (Color 4)
In my base file, they all work and look perfect, no issues toggling between the two. I then xref A into B and set up a viewport. On the layout tab, I double click in my viewport until the model is active, change to layer state 1 and it works, looks fine. Move to the next paper space tab, set up my viewport, change the viewport to layer state 2 and it works, looks fine as well. However, when I go back to the first layout tab and look at my first sheet, the lighting layer is still off, but my equipment color is now 9- the color I am using for the rcp, not the equipment. Same works opposite, the last layer state that I change becomes the global color setting for all viewports, even though on/off and freeze/thaw are working as they are supposed to.
Can you control the colors in an xref drawing from the layer states manager? In model space the layer states manager works great with being able to control on/off, freeze/thaw, but color is the only variable that is acting globally across all viewports in File A or B. How do I get my colors to appear correctly with layer states manager without manually changing vp color override for each layer on every viewport in File B? Is there something I am just missing?
