Connection between autocad and Google Spreadsheet

Hi all,

I would like to know if it is possible to create a plugin that allows you to connect to a G-Suite account, then select a spreadsheet file and finally get the data.

Stay tuned to any comments.

Thank you

Hello @Anonymous,

You can use Block Attribute Data Extraction, it allows you the ability to extract attribute information from blocks or objects into a table object or CSV file for use in another application like Google Docs. The Data Extraction wizard is the most efficient way to extract attribute information. It can also be used to extract property values that are associated with the other types of geometry defined in a drawing along with general information about a drawing file.

That's what is current offered in AutoCAD, let me know if this seems like what you were looking for or you were just making a suggestion.

Jimmy,

I have this crazy idea of creating a graphical (and more) database of all our engineering projects in our area.  We do a lot of surveys, plot plans, site plans, waterfront development plans, etc. in Ocean and Monmouth Counties, NJ.  It would be such a help to catalog our projects and find ones nearby or similar to any new project.  I guess the primary key would be the street address.  I don't think Google has any parcel data (lot & block).

Is this possible?  We are using C3D 2020.

The biggest problem with any external database is the fact that users will neglect to open it up and update it immediately after creating or changing data and "the database" quickly becomes out of date, then obsolete.

We took a different approach.  If your drawings are all assigned a known coordinate system, then the Drawing Harvest tool in our C3DTools package will scan the DWG files, collect the information, then send it to a spreadsheet or more importantly to a KML file that opens in GE.  The extents of each drawing is shown as a rectangle, with basic drawing information labeled.  Clicking the placemark shows all DWGPROPS info and the drawing thumbnail, a click of the hyperlinked DWG opens it in CAD.

For those that don't use Civil3D, this same functionality is available in our MapWorks add-on.  A 45-day full working evaluation of either package can be requested.

Wow, Terry!
Thanks for taking your time for me. I am honored.
Sadly, probably more than half our projects are in an assumed coordinate
datum using filed map bearings. That's why I was looking for a Google
connection using the street address linked to our project number. I was
thinking that one of our secretarial types could create a spread sheet with
those two fields (and more), and that with some wizardry (hopefully
AutoLisp is good enough) link a project to a Google Map location and even
display the project pointers in Google Maps.

Hi @john.uhden

It surely can be done. An existing solution is cheapest (I'm not aware of one) but if you want to consider a custom solution feel free to contact me
