Conceptual Edge Color

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone might know why when I open other people's drawings, the conceptual edge color is always white.  I know that they always run black edges same as me.  This happens with any drawing I open that isn't mine.  If I change it to black and save, the problem is fixed.  They still see black and I still see black.  It is just getting annoying to change every foreign file I open.  Is this a setting I'm missing somewhere?  I am currently running 2021 and all updates are installed.  I've had this issue in 2020 and prior as well.

What does "..the conceptual edge color ..." mean to the rest of us?
If you've always had this issue it might help if you explained it in more detail, posted a DWG file perhaps, pointed to this "thing" and explained more.

Sorry..  Edge color as in the "edge color" setting in the visual styles manager.   I 

I prefer to view this style with black edges.  All of my templates have the "edge color" setting set to true black. (0,0,0).  All of my coworkers do as well.   Any time that I open one of their drawings for the first time, the edges show up as white.  If I go into Visual Styles Manager and change that setting to black, they remain black forever.  I am wondering why my machine defaults them to white.  Both my laptop and desktop do this same action.  Thanks

I didn't try it but i suggest first to change the background first to white color then change the edge , any changes ?

Obviously I'm struggling with explaining this.

When I open a drawing from a co-worker and change the Visual Style to Conceptual, the drawing is displayed with white edges as shown above.  I prefer to have black edges.  When I ask the coworker if they run black edges or white, the say "black".  So my question is this.  Is there a setting on my machine that is changing the Edge Color back to white?  All of my files are always black edges as they are created that way.  This only happens when opening a coworkers drawing.

Color 7 looks white when you have a black background.
Color 7 look black when you have a white background.

That's the default, all the time, in AutoCAD.

Now explain in a lot of detail how you've always manually changed that reality in this and older versions, perhaps that would shed more light on what you are asking/seeking to automate.

I'll give it a go.  Thanks for being patient.  When I open a file from a coworker, the edges appear as white.  The coworker assures me that he runs a similar setup to be.  Black background and black edges.  We've all done that for as long as I can remember.  When the coworkers open any of my drawings, the edges show up in black with no issues.  For me, I need to go into Visual Styles Manager and manually change the edge color.  I'm attaching a picture because that will show the process better than I can type it.  After I do this one time, the file remains with black background and black edges with no issues.  I'm just wondering why I always have to change it and nobody else in the entire world (as far as I can tell) has to do the manual edit.  It makes me think I have a setting incorrect.  If this is life, I'll just move on and smile.  I just figured that someone might know what is happening.  See pic and thanks!

can you please upload 2 dwg-files...

• one that is the original one from your colleagues (which shows white edges on your system)
• a second dwg as a copy of the above one, but where you changed the settings inside the visual style manager (so the edges are displayed as black).

Also please start command _ABOUT and show us a screenshot of this dialog.

Hi,

well, your visual style settings (for "Conceptual") are NOT equal, one is set to color 7 (which handles itself dependent on background color) and the other drawing is set to true-color value "0,0,0".

Color 7 (AutoCAD color index) means it displays as black for white background, and as white on black background.

True-color "0,0,0" is always black, independent from the AutoCAD background setting.

So if I'm understanding you correctly, my coworkers must really be running a grey/white background in order for them to really be seeing black edges?  If so, that makes sense.  They swear to me they are also using a black background color.  But you never really know I guess.  What you are saying makes complete sense.
