Command to show first level Xrefs only

Is there a command that will only show me the first level Xrefs for a drawing and not the nested Xrefs of the first level Xref?

Thanks,

Krys

@Anonymous ,

Welcome to the AutoCAD forum.

If you are referring to a Nesting Depth (like MicroStation) the answer is NO.

AutoCAD nesting is explained on this link:

  • "In AutoCAD, there are two types of references that can be made to create file associations — attachments and overlays. Both allow the display of all objects in the attached file, as well as those in the nested references. Although AutoCAD allows live nested references, it does not provide control of nesting depth, and thus all data in the nested attachments is implicitly displayed." - Source

Not sure if this helps clarify, but on the Reference Palette using the Tree View it shows all the drawings xrefs and then you can click on the '+' to expand and see xrefs of each xref.

I am looking for a command that allows me to get just the xrefs of the drawing and not the xrefs of the xrefs (nested xrefs). Alternatively if there was a command that gave me all the xrefs but also could show me the "tree view" so I knew which ones were nested that would work also.

  • Only nested reference files will show a (+) containing the nested dwg.

        Note:  Overlays Reference Type will only show one level of XREF and will NOT carry over with the dwg,

                   unlike Attachment Reference Type.

In the Reference Manager, you can choose only list the first level of xref.
