you are in a wrong forum.

post your query in right one...

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad/ct-p/8

when you click on Autocad blank spaces then it takes as polygone input and says to specific opposite corner of polygone.

I think this is not a big issue...

Stop clicking in the drawing area and triggering a window selection.

Same response as @pendean wrote...

You must be unaware of clicking in the drawing window.  When you click in the drawing window with no active command or icon click you will get the beginning of a selection window.  AutoCAD is simply asking you to complete the selection window.

Mine is doing this when I double-click on a attribute. Instead of opening the box to edit it, it just says this over and over and over again. Don't know why it started, I was just editing, and now it doesn't work.

What happens when you use what has already been suggested?  [Don't just pick in the drawing area without a command active unless you want to select things in the window it is asking you to complete; or if your mouse is somehow doing that for you, get a new mouse.]

Cannot move the cursor into AutoCAD window, I open up the program and my part opens up and shows the crosshairs cursor, move for 1 or 2 seconds and then the cursor freezes. The mouse is in the background.

Also, the command line says "specify opposite corner or [Fence/WPolygon/CPolygon]", even though I click on blank spaces and I haven't selected a command, so I don't know why that legend appears, could you help me to solve this because its really annoying, and I can't work.

Do you have Snap [positional or grid Snap, not Object Snap] set to a large value, so that the cursor location snaps to positions outside the view area?  If that's the cause, F9 turns that off, and will let the cursor float freely.

Don't click on blank spaces when you haven't selected a command, except when you want to pre-select objects in a window.  That prompt is asking for the other corner of the window for which you gave it the first corner by picking in an empty area.

@arch.david.abdelmalak Restart your computer after closing AutoCAD/answering yes to save your file if asked.

Hi,

After a restart of your PC/Laptop, open up AutoCAD and allow everything to happen as you described (crosshairs appear then command line prompt for opposite corner).  No additional clicking or typing in any other window or desktop space.  Simply watch the lower right corner near your system clock and observe if any mouse messages come up.

At this point press your ESC key on your keyboard.

Does the prompt for "opposite corner" go away and display "Command:"?

If so, you should be able to work normally at this point.  Unsure what is initiating a click whilst AutoCAD is starting.

If not, your mouse may have lost focus from AutoCAD and you need to click back in the ACAD window, then hit ESC.  Not sure what series of clicks may be happening to initiate a window then lose focus to another place on your PC.

Just so you understand that anytime you click a spot in the ACAD drawing screen area without any command active AutoCAD treats it like a selection window.  Many user pre-select objects in ACAD and then initiate commands... an efficient workflow for many users.

Keep us up to date on your findings.

Blaine

I've ran into this issue a number of times before, and of course, found little help in the forums.

I did find a way to work around it, to get un-stuck on the "specify opposite corner" command line.

You should be able to click on the "start" tab to take you to that panel. From there, I was able to open another file. I opted to open the same file I was working in as a read-only. After that opens, click back on the "stuck" file and the command line should be cleared. Hopefully.

This is a very annoying bug.

Here in 2023 with this same problem.  I stayed on 2014 ACAD until my company forced me to switch to 2024.

There seem to be a few different issues here. Each one could have a different explanation as to why it's happening and of course different possible solutions.

There are ways to get out of the selection window command prompt. Finish the window or hit escape.

As @RSomppi noted, there are different problems discussed in this Topic.  Which one is "this same problem" for you?  And what have you tried among the suggestions offered?

it is because you have another overlapping or empty viewport, simply delete those extra viewports to fix your issue.

It looks like you responded to a different thread as this issue has nothing to do with viewports.

My mouse is new, I can't get used to it

I have experienced this annoying situation. In the main menu at the top, select the "Layout" tab. If it is locked, unlock it.
