Choose snap setting during command for entire command?

I would like to know if it is possible during a command to select the snap point that I want to use for the duration of the command.

For example, if I'm drawing a polyline and want to snap only to midpoints I shift+right click and select midpoint, but that only lasts for that click. I would like to be able to shift+right click, select midpoint (or other desired snap setting) and then be able to draw my line using multiple clicks, snapping only to midpoints while that command is active.

Any thoughts?

@Anonymous This sounds like another interesting work around. I'm not sure I follow exactly how to get the one touch key settings set up like you describe. I tested it on my computer and am not able to recreate the single key snap overrides.

When using the middle-button (or shift+Middle button) you should see the Object Snap Cursor menu, right??

Have you enabled the underline shortcut keys in Windows?

Control Panel > "Make keyboard easier to Use" > check  "Underline Keyboard Shortcuts and Access Keys"

If there's still no luck there check the CUI in the "Object Snap Cursor Menu" and make sure there is an ampersand (&) in front of the desired shortcut key.

But this is a one-time only override.

I updated the setting in my Control Panel and can see it now.

Thanks for all of the great ideas and feedback from everyone! You all are awesome.
