Change title block attributes for all future drawings

Hi all,

I can't seem to find anything relating directly to this subject.

We have recently moved premises so I would like to change the address in our title block to the new address rather than the old. I have figured out how to do it on each individual drawing but I can't seem to find a way to set it as default for all future drawings.

I'm using AutoCad 2012 and all drawings are pulled from a BlueCielo Meridian database 2013 poweruser.

If the address is part of the new title block, not an attribute, you can try BLOCKUPDATE.

You can either add the script line ( BLOCKUPDATE Path Blklist in your startup lisp [ put in the function of (defun S::startup ........) in your acad.lsp] so whenever you open a drawing, it will replace the old title block with the new one automatically.

Or you can add such command line in a script file (*.scr) and run it on multiple drawings with a batch file processing add-on.

I think it is a block attribute because I can change it with the text editor in Block Editor.
I should point out I have had no formal training on AutoCad, self taught.

Assuming the Title Block is either Inserted or Xref'd from some shared support-file location, just change the contents in that source drawing.  If they're Attribute Definitions, double-click on each AttDef involved in the address, and in the Edit Attribute Definition dialog box's Default: slot, change the contents.  Consider also making them constant [select one, and in Properties, Misc category there's a Constant slot -- set that to Yes].  Or, if they're really just Text or Mtext [which you can Edit in the Text editor within the Block editor, as you describe], just edit their contents with the Text editor.

OP is your master drawing in a template? Under OPTIONS -> Files -> Template Settings -> Drawing Template File Location, it should show a file path. Can you surf to that location and open that file? If so, you should be able to update the info and save as a template over that one. Make sure your manager knows and okays what you are doing before you go overwriting a company template though. Good luck!

If by some odd chance my nattering was useful -- that's great, glad to help. But if it actually solved your issue, then please mark my solution as accepted 🙂

The master template is blank when I go to edit it. When I load AutoCAD up by clicking its desktop item or on the Start menu there is no template, it's blank.

The address and border info is only loaded when I open a drawing from our database, and the default template file location when on these drawings still leads me back to the blank template.
