Is there a way to change the offset distance of the text frame option for Mtext?

Thanks,

Dennis

If you do a multileader without a leader, you can adjust the text frame padding in the Properties palette under the "Text" main heading and "Landing gap" subheading".

Text background mask you can but I don't think text frame created from TCIRCLE command can be changed.

I was selecting an Mtext object and adding a frame from the Properties Palette.

If you copy the MTEXT you want to use into a MULTILEADER (with the leader turned off), you will have the controls you're looking for.  AutoCAD has seemingly omitted the functionality to control the padding between the text and border for MTEXT.

Seems pretty obvious to me:

For one that already has it, that box will say Yes, and you can pick on the thingie to the right of that and change that factor.

@Kent1Cooper

My understanding was this thread was about adding a visible frame (box) around MTEXT, not a background mask.

The mask is the way to control the size ["border offset factor"] of the frame.  Set a mask to get the size, and turn on the frame farther down in Properties, and if you don't want the masking aspect, you can turn that off, as here [un-checked box], but the frame will keep the size set by the mask.

If you want to change the offset factor, you'll need to turn the masking back on, if only temporarily.

THAT'S IT!!! I knew there was an unintuitive solution (because Autodesk) that I had used before, but totally spaced on it. I appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Dennis

Also, if Autodesk is listening, it would be nice to be able to set this spacing with a System Variable.
