Change CTB for Multiple Page Setups

Hi everyone.

I'd be very grateful if someone can help me with the following issue. Can't seem to find an answer online.

I have a drawing with one layout. The layout has multiple viewports. There are multiple page setups on that same layout with settings, each with a window to one of viewports.

I need to change the CTB for all those page setups at once

Any ideas?

(See attached picture for how the layout looks like).

Thank you in advance!

I forgot to add that for some reason when I change CTB, Autocad doesn't ask me whether to apply it to all the other layouts. (I think that was the message it used to ask me).

Maybe that worked, but I don't know how to make it ask me again and whether that is the solution.

Add an example of your file.

Maybe you want to print everything at once with one style?

I use Publish command. I have to get multiple A3 for each viewport
separately (hence windows to specific place in layout). I can’t post an
example of drawing at the moment. Tomorrow will be able to.

Here's an example of the file in e-transmit with the CTBs.

I've erased all the sensitive info.

You can see rectangles on the layout tab which are the windows for each of page setups.

All the page setups are on the same one layout.

I need to change CTB in all of them.

My end goal is a PDF booklet which contains all the A3 pages plotted under same CTB. I have a DSD file for use in PUBLISH command which achieves that.

This would be much easier if you had made only one page per layout.

Definitely. But then it’s a pain in the neck if I need to make changes on all the rectangles content which happens pretty often.

I have a solution to print all title blocks with style (attached)

migdal-haemek-mecher.ctb

But there's a problem.

Your title blocks are not correct.

You cannot set the print order by sheet number from the title block.

There is no way to sort sheets in PDF.

You do this to avoid changing rectangles? I'm positive that there is a much better way of changing multple rectangles than what you are currently doing.

You may as well be working in model space and stop using paper space altogether with that layout.

Plot from model space (just a temp plot) and change the ctb file.  You will get the promt - "Assign this plot style to all layouts"

Moving forward.

Next drawing, you really should consider multiple layouts. You are already using page setups like they are layouts. You could possibly have one .ctb and one page setup controlling all of the layouts.

That's an interesting way. I will look into it.

For now I was using PUBLISH.

Lack of order is a major obstacle. What is it you mention about blocks titles? Any way to make it in order?

Thank you.

You could make them any order you want if you had a layout for each one.

You need :
Or add the sheet number attribute to each title block
Or add the sheet number with text, but so that it is in the same place for everyone.

I recommend looking at how your title blocks are created - it's a nightmare:
1. Vertical title blocks differ from horizontal ones.
2. The stamp (main inscription) should be the same for everyone.
Or they must be different in height.
3. Your vertical title blocks are scaled, that's bad.
4. In verticals there is no sheet number.
5. Not everywhere - only sheets.
6. I recommend using a dynamic title block for all formats.
See an example.

Thank you.

I have to think if it makes sense to me to invest in making such blocks, because they are all different in different projects. I have to research the topic of dynamic blocks more in depth for that.

If I numerated the pages numbers, and then have to insert a page in the middle, and update the rest - is there a quick way?

I've been using TCOUNT.

P.S. I liked the info in company name etc 😉 Nice reference.

Oh, this is where it went! That prompt. I didn't realize it was only in the model. Thank you!

Didn't fix the problem though..
