Cant substract Helix from Cylinder

Hi, I'm having an issue where I'm unable to substract a helix from a cylinder, I've already checked that both my shapes are solids.

As you can see below the helix is composed of a very large number of facets.  The Boolean computation is extremely compute intensive.

 

Try subtracting a solid helix of one or two turns from a shorter cylinder then array the results for the length you need.

 

I would also encourage you to consider applying a texture map to a cylinder that would give the appearance of a threaded rod without the geometry overhead of the approach you are taking.
