cannot flatten dwg file

Hey

i'm trying to fltten an dwg file

i'm using the FLATTEN command.

the copmuter works hard for abount an hour and then i get the same Z axis lines. nothing changed.

Why is it happening?

• the dwg-file to see which objects you have in your drawing
• to know which version of AutoCAD you are working with

Hi,

for Polylines:

use command _QSELECT to select all polylines using a thickness > 0.0 and then change the property "THICKNESS" to 0

for block "Parcel-rh":

edit the block using block editor, run the same procedure as above for polylines and 2D-polylines

The rest was simply done by selecting all objects, then for each object type category change the corresponding value, e.g.

• for arcs and circles ==> change center Z to 0
• for lines ==> change start-z and end-z to 0
• for polylines ==> change the elevation to 0
• for blocks ==> change insertion point z to 0
• ...

Only attributes stay with that workflow at the previous position, ATTSYNC might help with that (losing the XY-position then, that's why I did not do that in your dwg-file)

i don't understand the trick. "thickness" is already set to 0 on properties.

Hi,

you selected all polylines with thickness = 0.0 and then verified the value in the property window ... please, select the polylines with thickness NOT EQUAL 0.0 and then look to the property window. 😉

ok i did most of the things.

i dont find "insertion point" for blocks. does it has another name ?

1.but a lot of blocks still has elevation. maybe its defined inside the blocks?

is there any way to flatten them all together?

2. how can i flatten "leaders"? when i pick them all, i dont see the "posion z" in the propeties bar...

I guess you mean the attributes, that's why I wrote about command _ATTSYNC

Btw, why the FLATTEN command failed?

And another thing, whats the difference between thickness and elevation?

Untill today i tought elevation = Z axis value and thickness=lineweight. am i wrong?

Needs to be answered by the developer.

From my side: the command was a tool (old one) to help for most situations, but can't help with all objects, especially these types of geometry introduced later than the tool itself was developed.

First is correct, THICKNESS is the (3D)height of an object, not the lineweight.
