Cannot delete proxy

Hi all,

I received a legacy file that include proxy graphics that I cannot delete to even copy clip the paper space elements to create a new drawing.

I have tried everything I can think of (audit, object enablers, exporttoautocad etc. etc.)

I include the file if anyone wants to have a go.

Thanks,

SC

Ask the sender to export a DWG without 3.part object types.

Is it from Plant3D? Or is it from Siemens?  Try to use the Plant3D Object Enabler for your version.

Hi all,

Yes, I can find the same elements in the model but I cannot delete them. I also dont have the ability to ask for a new model as it is legacy data. I think it might have been made with structure detailing software like advance steel? not sure.

But nothing will get rid of it.

it may not be elegant, but you should be able to explode the entities to standard ACAD elements. The proxy entities will still be there, but you will have the native ACAD elements that you can put on different layers, freeze the proxies, and work from there.
or wblock out the ACAD elements and you have your .dwg file with no proxies

Hi,

I tried that also and cannot explode the elements. Even if I could just copy clip the parts I need to build another drawing would be something, but that wont work with proxy elements either.

Very frustrating

What is the source CAD software that created the file? That's the only way to fix it, sorry, nothing else will do.
Or recreate it from scratch in your variant/version of AutoCAD.

Hi,

I have looked into the naming of the proxy elements and I think it was made with Autodesk structural detailing software that is now defunct (replaced with advance steel) Which also doesn't recognize these elements. So without the software that is unavailable I cannot do anything with the file. I tried to install the object enablers but they also wont install without the original software (was hoping to just install them on vanilla autocad and delete the elements)

Then you face a dilemma: recreate the content yourself in your version of AutoCAD, or pass on the project. Either solution is going to cost time and money.

Unless some site like eBay has someone selling that old software that you can try installing as a 30-day trial to make the conversion.

Good luck.
