Cannot Delete Layers

Cannot Delete Layers

I need to delete layers from this drawing but cannot seem to find them anywhere to remove them. They say there is an object on them, but for the life of me I don't know where those objects are. For testing purposes, I removed all the objects in model and paper space, and when I purge, the layers are still there. They are not on a hidden layer, or isolated layer. I can merge them into one layer, but my worry is that there is still something there. I like my files to be very clean - where could these layers be hidden?

Because of got like 200 blocks embeded in your drawing even tho you can't see them. Type Bedit at the command line and have a look. All those blocks are in your drawing... blocks.png

Right, but purge doesn't get rid of them. How do I get rid of them (hoping that is where all these layers are hidden)

See attached for a clean version. Those blocks and layers make me feel like this drawing was edited in some vertical app, and they are embedded in styles, and/or other non-graphical objects.

Those blocks aren't purgeable... I assume you want everything in that drawing but the blocks and layers right ?

-Save your Test Drawing to your desktop

-Start a New BLANK Drawing in autocad with nothing in it

-Type ADC at the command line (autocad design center)

-Navigate to your saved Test drawing on your desktop thru the ADC window

-Double click on your Test drawing when you find it

- You will see a screen with everything saved in that drawing the can be imported in a new blank drawing

-Click Dimstyles for example, then just drag and drop whatever you need from Test drawing into a new fresh and clean drawing. In youe case, everything but blocks and layers if i understand correctly...

- Save as ....

Hi,

>>" but cannot seem to find them anywhere to remove them. "

If you are using a newer version, use command PURGE, switch to the 'unpurgable' list to read where an item is in use.

(Which software? You should add the information about your product if you ask.. command: ABOUT - Productname and Productversion, best way - Upload a Screenshot)

>>"How do I get rid of them"

>>"I like my files to be very clean"

"Clean" is also a question of your product and file workflow.

>>"(hoping that is where all these layers are hidden)"

A-ANNO-SYMB
A-WALL-PATT

are also used in your model, but what you want to know is:

Blocks, Layers and other stuff from applications like the toolset ARCHITECTURE

is protected from purge action.

Perhaps not 100% professional, but good for your imagine:

They are "in use" because in your file is a section  for different styles and templates, saved

or copied from Architecture and this "pointers" to a block or layer is why you can't purge them.

If you using AutoCAD or LT, start EXPORTTOAUTOCAD ,

open the new file, delete all from your model,

PURGE ALL
