Can't seem to export to STL?

Hello AutoCAD users,

I seem to have a problem exporting this to a .STL file... Was planning to print mutliple of these to test it out as a light cover. Tried making it as a solid, it did not work. Next attempt was to use the different commands to convert the unit to a solid, still did not work. im running out of options and am planning to use a different software instead. Wish i was more proficient in this type of problem...

There exit two reasons:

1) your geometry is a block. Blocks can't be exported to STL ... and if you look to the command-line when selecting the object you want to export it informs you with "1 was filtered out" that this type of object can't be used for export to STL

2) Your object is endless thin, it can't be converted to a 3D-Solid. This has nothing to do with which software you are using. Current 3D printers need a volume as geometry.

I would start with a polyline (close at the end) and recreate the contour and then extrude this closed polyline with the height you need, is that what you are looking for?

Not sure what this statement should tell us ... if you can do that with another software then just do it, but also other software needs some training, also other software would not export geometry that has no volume.

@Alfred.NESWADBA is right, it is a block and it has no thickness.

From your model, I exploited the block and left, in individual parts, the base as a region and the rest as surfaces.

You must give a thickness to everything so that it can be exported; for the REGION you can use EXTRUDE and for the THICKEN surfaces, since they can not be extruded; finally UNION for a unique body

Attach file with solid body from your geometry.

No issues that I can see in your dwg, just start command _EXPORT, select filetype "*.STL", after you have defined a filename select the object you like to export. I would suggest to export each of your 3D-solid objects to separate STL-files.
