Can't get Plugin to work

Can't get Plugin to work

I downloaded an autocad plugin from the Daikin website (Ihttp://www.daikin.co.uk/contacts-and-downloads/software-downloads/air-conditioning/index.jsp) called VRVCad 2D which should help simplify air conditioning design. I installed it and the files went into C:\users\appdata\roaming/autodesk\applicationplugins, however it was not showing up on the ribbon/menu bar as shown in the tutorial guide. After doing some research  I concluded that I probably had to load it manually so I used the CUILoad command and found the Cuix file within the VRVcad.bundle folder and loaded it.

It now appears on the ribbon/menu bar but when I try to use any feature of the plugin it says "unknown command".

I'll greatly appreciate if someone will assist me. I am using autocad 2017

Thank you.

Try running a repair on AutoCAD from Programs & Features. Secondly, you may want to reach out to the developers of the plugin because the issue is most like with their tool.

Hi navin_tony,

If loaded the cuix file and the tools icons are available in the AutoCAD interface then, you have to add the support location at the AutoCAD "Support File Search Path". See the attached snap where the activity to be perform...Emoticono feliz

Did it install itself in a different AutoCAD Profile? or in a workspace you are not in? Or does your R2017 start with a custom locked Profile?

You're not giving us much info about your setup really.

HI @Anonymous,

It sounds like you have gotten part way through getting this to work by getting the menus to load. However, it does not appear to actually have a path to its addins or the path has not been added to the Trusted paths.

I would suggest contacting the manufacturer to verify that 1) this plugin is compatible with AutoCAD 2017, 2) that you have gone through the correct steps to install the software, and 3) have them isolate the issue in why it is not running properly.

Since I can't install this on my side I can only be of limited help.

So I install VRVCAD on my friend's system who has AutoCad 2016 and there were no issues. Everything when perfect. I tired the installation again on my system with 2017 and I encountered the original issues.

I had Autocad 2016 installed on my system then I reinstalled VRDCAD and there were no issues. It works great.

In conclusion, I think even though the developer said the requirement was AutoCad 2013 or higher, it doesn't work on 2017.

Thank you for your assistance.

Not sure if you still need it to work on your AutoCAD 2017. I think you can do the trick as below:

In your VRVCAD.bundle folder, there should have a file name PackageContents.xml. Open it by Notepad, then change the SeriesMax="R20.1" to SeriesMax="R21.0".

If AutoCAD 2018, change to SeriesMax="R22.0".

After finishing, save the xml file, then run/restart your AutoCAD.

Hi,

>> file name PackageContents.xml. Open it by Notepad, then change

Take care, that can make AutoCAD unstable/crashing in in worst case it does not start any more.

In most cases it makes sense that a developer has limited it to that releases.

Also the structure of that XML can have multiple different lines, one for each version, just to change 20.1 to 22.0 does not make sense then because the wrong files are then loaded or wrong commands are called.
