Can't find layer which I can't delete.

Hello,

I got a few layers which I can't delete. Also, I can't find them anywhere in my DWG. (see attach)

Does anyone have an idea how to delete or to find these?

Thank you for helping me.

Regards,

Defpoints cannot be deleted, it's a layer used by AutoCAD.

The Purge dialog will tell you where a layer is being used (See example below)

The easiest way to get rid of layers like this is to merge those layers to layer 0. There may some unintended consequences, but you can try it on a copy of your drawing if you're not sure.

I've done this and attached a copy of the drawing.

Hi,

what product you are running AutoCAD or CIVIL3D?

Start PURGE command and switch to non purgeable option,

mark your layer and read about the problem.

For example:

Layer Defpoints: Is used (it is an internal system layer, used for your DEFinitionPOINTS of your dimensions!)

Layer Titelkader: Is used by an Attribut in modelspace (attached on Blockreference of Block "TITELKADER_BE1")

all the other layers are "used" in Civil3D stuff (non visible data).

Select the blockreference in model tab, open properties palette(CTRL+1) and write a sample text into the last row (the attribut / value), you can see the attribut in drawing now.

You can't find it? Use PURGE dialog and use the "SelectObjects" option.

If you are running AutoCAD, try command "-ExportToAutoCAD" to get rid of the C3D stuff,

the command create a new file, convert needed C3D objects to native AutoCAD object and kills unneeded C3D data)

LAYMRG command to merge the layers you don't want with layer 0 is the other easy method.

As for DEFPINTS layer, AutoCAD told you about it already, there is nothing you can do there

Hello,

You can use the command LAYDEL and then pressing "n" and it shows you the table of all the layers, and you can select which to delete.

For detecting, it isn't a bad idea, but for this case is the dialog PURGE [non purgable items] much more powerfull (since v2020).

And if you can't solve all references, take the laymrg solution from #2
