Can't edit text in old file

I've just finnished my education as a CAD-operator, and am now going through some old projects to correct my errors. One of these projects are 2D-drawings of a floor plan, drawn in Autocad 2014. I want to edit the text of the "room spaces", but I can't. I can't even select the text. I've checked that the layers aren't off or frozen, but it's been 2 years since I've used Autocad, so my skills are rusty at best, and I don't have a clue what the issue is!

Of course the first step in diagnosing the problem would be to attach the *.dwg file here.

Hi casbn23,

as I can see, the text you want to modify is in the third layout.

In that layout model space is active. But the text is drawn in paper space.

Try the command "_pspace" while in the layout.

The text should be selectable, now.

Hope this helps,

Giancarlo

Hi,

of course you could not... all what you have to do is :

- type ps then you will be abale to select text because you have been in view port and your text is out view in paper space.

Good Luck..

Thank you,

if you mean, by that command, that I could edit while being in paper space, then yes, you are correct. The problem seem to have been to get in to paper space, or for me to realise if I've been in paper space or not. Anyway, the problem fixed it self the second after I read your reply 🙂

tuer on your UCSICON and leave it on, always.  It will change to a drafting triangle symbol when you're in Paperspace, - always a helpful cue
