Can't choose angle when using 'LINE'

Hi guys

I've recently come up against a problem when using AutoCAD - never have I had this problem. After having spent hours of searching on the forums and miscellaneous sites. I still couldn't find any help.

So basically, I'm drawing a house, as I'm a carpenter student. I've to draw a LINE to create a 30 degreed rafter. It won't let me pick the length, hit tab, or choose an angle. I've seen maxim_k post this:

- start LINE command
- pick first point, than hit Tab key, than input angle
- than hit Tab key again - the line will be constrained to the angle you input in previous step
- than input line length and hit Return or Spacebar.

I have Dynamic input turned ON, but it still won't let me do it.

Hi,

Please start a new drawing, then start command _LINE, pick a start-point, move the cursor half of the screen away and now create a screenshot so we see what you see while the line command is active.

Alternative could be to use Autodesk Screencast to show is a short video (>>>free download<<<)

Hi Alfred

Thank you for your time for replying. I got too impatient and reset AutoCAD - it now works again. So I guess I found an answer to my question 😄

Glad you got it fixed. My best guess is that you might've changed a setting in your drafting settings, such as from polar (the default) to cartesian.  You can always override the setting by using either the < for polar or , for cartesian, instead of tab, before entering any numbers.
